We are continuously funding grants to enable the research and development of safe and effective therapeutics for Multicentric Carpotarsal Osteolysis.

Through an application process vetted by our scientific advisory board, funding will be awarded to scientists interested in conducting translational research for MCTO.

Research Focus & Funding Opportunity

Grants should focus on discovering therapeutic approaches to MCTO, such as:

  • Research that studies the molecular mechanisms underlying the disease through a genetically modified MCTO mouse model.

  • Pre-clinical research that involves screening compounds against an MCTO cell line or mouse model, or a therapy that has the potential to be curative.

  • Assessment of MAFB mutations that cause MCTO and how bone building and bone lysis can be corrected.

  • Research that elucidates why MCTO has a proclivity to the carpal and tarsal bones, plus other bones in joints, and its renal features. What that discovery might reveal about a treatment approach.

  • Please note our policy: Grant funds cannot be used for indirect or overhead costs.
